Adam Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you use the AS/400 ? Regards Evan Harris
hmmm. Interesting. Oh well. We already on the time to do a multi step upgrade, so no looking back now. ;) As far as samba, postgresql and PHP. It was my solution to notepad if we could get the data out. Move the contents of notepad into a database (Postgresql is my weapon of choice). Use PHP, a server side scripting language for web applications, to write a web app that has text search functionality and data entry. The users will have a webpage open that will have a "enter claim number here" field. They put in a claim number and it would query the database and return all diary entries. It would also have edit fields to add new information to the database. SAMBA is a linux application that will emulate a windows Domain controller. I do all my network authentication with it. I can tie in a module to have the web application query my SAMBA server for security. Adam Lang Systems Engineer Rutgers Casualty Insurance Company http://www.rutgersinsurance.com
