I'm the big proponent of getting the desktops upgraded, we're currently on
V4R5 but will be installing V5R2 in about a month and I'm trying to get a
head start on the desktops. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd
appreciate hearing from you.

Buy a bigger desktop machine. At V5R2 iSeries Navigator has a whole bunch
more Java in it. When it first starts, it is somewhat sluggish (read very
slow), but as you get the Java stuff loaded, it runs fine. My laptop is
1ghz and 512mb of memory, (IBM A30) and V5R2 runs OK, not great. A smaller
machine won't cut it.

One final thought for anyone going to V5R2. Get the latest fix
packs/cumulative fix packages on ASAP. Bunches of stuff was fixed from the
GA release. Also make sure you have the latest fix packs for iSeries
Navigator and WDSC. Once you've made the switch, you'll really like it.

We have been running V5R2 for a while now and I like it.
