I see on my new system (820) running v5r1 that the LPP DB2 Symmetric
Multiprocessing is still available. I thought that this functionality was
now included in the OS. I know that SYSVAL's exist to help Query optimize
over multi-processor systems. But, I was looking to get better batch run
time on a very long running (single threaded) program/job.

Can anyone confirm if multi-processor systems by default share the
processors better than they did a few releases/models ago. I want to
greatly optimize a 36 hour job buy upgrading from a 1-way 730 to a 2 or
4-way 820. Will the program use the additional processors without the
additional LPP?
