I was going to suggest checking your PATH , and ask about the CPYENVVAR (Copy environment variables) parameter on SBMJOB (which is *NO by default). But then I discovered that my PATH contains only /usr/bin, and jar is not in there. Neither is java or javac, and they all work on our iSeries (I've never tried jar in batch, BTW, but I do use java that way all the time). So those commands must be made available to the shell automagically and the automagic isn't working for batch jobs. I don't like it when computers do stuff in secret. Does anyone know how the shell finds these commands?
