Hi Joe, I have experienced these problems often. It seems to be a mismatch between the software on the PC and the software on the AS/400. Uninstalling CA from the PC, followed by a clean install via NetServer usually corrects these problems. If I remember rightly, from V4R4 onwards, the latest CA service pack on the AS/400 is automatically applied to the PC during the installation of CA. This ensures that both systems are at the same service level, without the need for a separate service pack install. If you subsequently update your AS/400 (eg. PTF install, Cum PTF, OS upgrade, etc.) then the next time the PC connects to the server, the Check Level process will ask you if wish to upgrade your PC software. If you keep your AS/400 up-to-date, you should not need to worry about service packs on the PC. Syd Nicholson Joe Pluta wrote:
Check Level is behaving bizarrely. It first pops up an error saying it cannot read the file setup.ini. Then it pops up an error saying my fixpack on my machine is newer than the one on the host. True, because I manually applied the latest fixpack, but if it can't read the directory, how could it determine that? It then pops up an error saying it the setup.ini for the AS/400 Java Toolbox is missing data. It pops that error up again, then pops up the same error for the Java Runtime Environment. Then it dies. Since I'm already up to date on FixPacks and I can always use that as an alternative, I'm not going to worry about it. Maybe another day. JoeFrom: Vern Hamberg Check that NetServer is running. You do this in OpsNav, if you haven't done this before. It's under Network->Servers->TCP/IP, I think. And check what the NetServer name is - that is what to use in place ot "As400ifs" below.
