We use CSC for our insurance rating software on the AS/400.

hey moved pritn off the AS/400 and onto a PC which has caused tons of
headaches.

Their iSolutions product which lets you tie in a gui interface (which is
jsut a jacada server runnign on NT that rewrites the green screens) to their
print system and viw archived print as PDFs requires you to run NT AND an
IIS server.

Total crap. And we can't really say anythign about it if e want that
functionality because 1) we are a small shop and 2) it is NOT easy changing
vendors.

Our vendor was PMSC then they hanged to Mynd and then bought by CSC.

Apparently they don't "get it". Up until a month ago I had an AS/40 and ALL
linux servers back here. Now I have an additional NT serer with a couple
more probably coming down the pike.

Thsi blows. Also, they are using Oracle for their database on the NT
servers.

How much sense does it make? All their clients run AS/400 for the insurance
app. Why introduce new tech that runs on NT when obviosuly all their cients
have AS/400 and knwo it? And WHY use Oracle? Why not use DB2 since all
their clients are runnign AS/400s?

Why nto develop on Websphere on the AS/400?

Why take print off the AS/400? And you knwo what they did? They don't even
use Windows spooling. They emrge data and forms together and create several
big PCL files and do a copy /b myfile lpt2:

So if print bombs, you can't pick up where ya left off.
