I'm sorry, I left out some info.  Yes, this is a database upgrade for a new 
release of the software.  All the RPG programs are compiled over the updated 
database definition, so the data must be converted.

We are not processing by key.  In fact, the parallel process is just a bunch of 
CPYF command jobs with a FROMRCD and TORCD, which is arrival-sequence 
processing.  My "key" point is that the PF has a UNIQUE key on it, so there is 
no way to not build that index as records are added to the file.
