John Some have mentioned using SQL in RPG to return things it can do. SOUNDEX is one of those things - there is a SOUNDEX function in SQL, as well as a DIFFERENCE function. The latter returns a value from 1 to 4, depending on how many positions match in the SOUNDEX value of two strings. As someone else pointed out recently, you can use file QSYS2/QSQPTABL for the 1-record file you need. Check'm out in the SQL Reference. HTH Vern At 05:21 PM 11/4/02 -0500, you wrote:
Does anyone have a "Soundex" routine in RPG laying around that they could send me? I didn't find one in the archives. Thanks, John Myers
