Some have mentioned using SQL in RPG to return things it can do. SOUNDEX is
one of those things - there is a SOUNDEX function in SQL, as well as a
DIFFERENCE function. The latter returns a value from 1 to 4, depending on
how many positions match in the SOUNDEX value of two strings.

As someone else pointed out recently, you can use file QSYS2/QSQPTABL for
the 1-record file you need.
