Joe,

I am reading some information regarding a newer version of LEI.  Maybe
there is hope for Stored Procedures:

        - Return of output parameters upon update or insert using Direct
          Transfer Activities and LEI Advanced RealTime
          Activities (Virtual Fields, Virtual Documents, and Virtual
Agents)

          LEI recently added support for the return of output parameters
on
          update or insert into the date source. Fields designated as OUT
          or IN/OUT in a stored procedure can be returned to LEI upon
          completion of its task. You can enable output parameter support
in
          order to update a field in the data source when the data
transfer
          to the target is successful.

          Using a stored procedure as destination metadata, LEI now allows

          the destination stored procedure to send output back to the
source
          metadata via its parameters. This feature is implemented by each
          Connector uniquely and is currently applicable only to the LEI
          Direct Transfer Activity and the three Advanced RealTime
          Activities. Only the Lotus Connector for DB2 currently supports
          this feature. The Lotus Connector for SAP Release 1.7 should
support
          this feature when that Connector becomes available.

I'm no SQL guru (Duh!), but it was my understanding that a stored
procedure
can be made to look like any other table to SQL, and thus to CLI, and
ultimately to ODBC.  Therefore, any of the methods you mentioned should be
able to handle these stored procedures transparently.

Something about returning a result set in the called program.  Am I way
off
base here?  Because if I am, then stored procedures just lost a lot of
their
luster to me.
