There isn't a spell check API that I'm aware of. (though, my company has
never had OfficeVision.)

If I were feeling especially ambitious (which I'm not) I might write a
program that queries  http://www.m-w.com to find a word.  :)   My HTTPAPI
service program (http://www.scottklement.com/httpapi/) would do most of
the legwork, but I'd still have to interpret the response, which is
where I suddenly become lazy. :)
