Slow IFS

Dear list

We are loading a small (windows) application from the AS/400 (used as a file
server)
Using V4R5 the users tell me its is slower than in previous releases.
Using a sniffer I find the application is using:
1,7 MB of data coming from a shared folder,
1,5MB of data coming from a IFS directory and !!
44 Kb coming from a ordinairy Windows server.
Can anybody explain this big difference to me?
