[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] Not that helps the current problem, but this is why when you go to V5R2 you want to use the image catalogue. I used them when upgrading to V5R2, and I thought the upgrade was easier and quicker. They did seem to take up a lot of space, but then think about it you have 10 CDs with 650MB on them, that you are loading onto your machine. You should also be able to review your installation history, which may also give you a good detailed listing. Somewhere in the packing lists should be a listing of the contents of each disk. If you're cool with the SLIC and the whole OS, then your plan sounds reasonable. I would do a cume PTF apply between steps three and four below, then again after the licensed program install. (Now that you're getting really good at it ;-)) Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse On Behalf Of Jay Maynard Subject: Re: OS/400 V5R1 install problem On Tue, Oct 01, 2002 at 09:44:47AM -0400, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse wrote: Your disks should be labeled. If you were past the SLIC/OS and into the licensed programs, you should be able to run the system. If you were on disk four of five, odds are that your system is not hosed. *Whew*. (And yes, I was able to eject the CD with a paper clip.) Are you in need of immediate advice? Does this machine have to be in production soon or can you be a little more relaxed? Well, it needs to be in production soon, with "soon" defined as "the next couple of days", not "the next 45 minutes". We've got a project that's waiting on V5R1, but it's been waiting for a month now. I got the "automatic installation not complete" message, then the sign on panel. I've signed on as QSECOFR, and done nothing else (yet). My guess is that I should: 1) PWRDWNSYS *IMMED RESTART(*NO) 2) Replace the CD drive while the system's off. 3) Start the system, and allow INZSYS to complete. 4) Install any licensed programs from CDs 4 and 5 that aren't completely installed (*COMPATIBLE status). 5) Install the CUMPTF package. 6) Re-IPL. This should, I'm guessing, get me to the fully installed state. Is there anything else I should do? _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com[1] To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l[2] or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com[3] Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l[4]. . ===References:=== 1. mailto:MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com 2. http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l 3. mailto:MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com 4. http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l
