Would hldoutq before strprtwtr work for them? Instead of the order of starting then holding.. I have not tested this, not sure what happens - even so, we are on V5R1 (could function differently on other OS levels) Mark -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Paul Tykodi Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 1:25 PM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Start Print Writer But Hold Output Queue as Default Dear List, I had a customer ask me the following question. They have an application that they can't change (easily) which outputs all reports to a certain output queue, with a physical printer attached to it, only when the writer is started. Typically at the beginning of each day, they start the writer for this printer and then immediately put the output queue on hold. They then sort out the spool files that arrive in the queue to determine which files should go to the physical printer and which ones should be moved to other queues. Sometimes they don't get the queue put on hold fast enough and they have a file print that should have been moved to a different queue. They were wondering whether there was a method to start a print writer but keep its associated queue on hold. I looked at the Start Print Writer command and it doesn't seem to include such an option. Could this requirement be supported with CL routine? Thanks.
