I've setup a new 270 on 5.1 with ops console (1st time). I would print out the manual "iSeries Operations Console Setup" SC41-5508-02 or later. The folding poster "Cabling your model xxx to a PC" messed me up big time. Read the book before you start, and highlight the path you want to take. It's overly complex because the book is describing multiple scenarios. I did get it to go. My biggest problem was a Win98 PC that apparently had some part of the ip stack "windozed". It would talk to the internet, but not Ops Console. Replaced with an XP pc & worked fine. There is a test Support Line took me thru with HyperTerm that proved the Win98 pc was bad. Other big problem many on this list had is the password upper/lower case change & the diff between DST passwords & "regular" passwords. Know this before you start! good luck jim franz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kirk Goins" <kirkg@pacinfosys.com> To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 25, 2002 2:24 PM Subject: RE: Console issues upgrading from V4R5 to V5R1 > I haven't used your software but have done a couple of systems with OEM Twinax emulators on PCs for consoles and haven't had a problem. > > > > __________________________________________________ > Kirk Goins > IBM Certified iSeries Technical Solutions Expert > IBM Certified Designing IBM e-Business Solutions > Pacific Information Systems - An IBM Premier Business Partner > 503-674-2985 kirkg@pacinfosys.com > > > -----Original Message----- > From: jim essinger [mailto:esinger@fmtc.com] > Sent: Wednesday, September 25, 2002 11:07 AM > To: midrange-l@midrange.com > Subject: Console issues upgrading from V4R5 to V5R1 > > > Greetings! > > We have brand new 820 hardware ready to upgrade to from our 720.
