Same here. I always liked having control over Daylight Savings Time
adjustments.

Switching the time easy. Deciding when to switch the time is tougher.

At every IBM shop I've worked at (AS/400 or mainframe), we liked that the
system didn't automatically switch the time. That gave us the chance to
change the time when it logically made sense (eg, at the end of all the
batch, at the end of a full save, etc).

Blindly switching the time at 0200 can be disruptive if you have important
processing running at that time.

I think IBM should take responsibility of this mess cause the BIG problem
here is what Justin said about the system reliving the hour. You will
think
this can be taken care of at the internal code level easily. This is an
issue that I think should be brought to the knowledge of people in
Rochester
for further explanation or to be address in the next release. How can a
system claim E-commerce without taking care of time "daylight saving". Is
there any platform out there, Non-IBM, that has the same problem? Even
WINDOZE took care of it.

Dare
