Bob, So do I understand you correctly that you basically gave up on the ethernet attach and are talking to the library via serial? Is this a stop-gap or your final solution? -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. Walden, We had problems attempting to connect two 820s via ethernet to on 3494. One gotcha is that the 3494 is 10M NIC, not 100!! I did not do initial ethernet setup, but I could not get it to work, plus it would have required a dedicated NIC in each 820 because our network is pure 100M. We went with serial connections from the modem/serial card (9447?) to the 3494. Those connections are used for BRMS to communicate to the 3494 tape library. For the SNA communications between the 820s for synchronization, we use SNA over IP through Gigabit NICs that are also used for our Domino replication. Bob Larkin "Walden H.
