We had problems attempting to connect two 820s via ethernet to on 3494. One
gotcha is that the 3494 is 10M NIC, not 100!! I did not do initial ethernet
setup, but I could not get it to work, plus it would have required a dedicated
NIC in each 820 because our network is pure 100M.  We went with serial
connections from the modem/serial card (9447?) to the 3494. Those connections
are used for BRMS to communicate to the 3494 tape library. For the SNA
communications between the 820s for synchronization, we use SNA over IP through
Gigabit NICs that are also used for our Domino replication.
