If that is the case, it is stupid.  Why the hell would they make the OLE DB
provider NOT backward compatible?

Especially for the fact that IBM only supports CAE 5.1 on XP.

And we can't upgrade to 5.1 anytime soon on the actual box since we use
office vision apis.

I could see if I was trying to use some new feature in a 5.1 ole db that the
4.4 OS doesn't support, but the same code that runs conencting to a 4.4 OS
should work whether I use a 4.4 ole db or a 5.1 ole db.

Christ, I am jsut trying to do a simple select query.

Grrr, this situation has me aggravated.

But, you could be right and the provider is handling cursers differently
than the OS is handling them.
