Hello David, You wrote: >I'm talking to IBM about it ... we identified the EXACT problem, but >there is only a PTF for V4R4 available ... and we're at V4R5. I think 450 is still supported (Dec 31 2002??) so you can get it fixed. Check IBM's site for support dates. It should be easy to fix since they have already fixed it for 440. You should check 510 as well. The defect was reported at 440 (probably by a customer since it seems difficult if not impossible for an IBM developer to PTF a non-customer reported defect) and a fix was created for 440. It would seem reasonable to expect that fix to be incorporated into 450 unless either: a) The problem does not occur at 450 b) 450 was already released in which case it would be reasonable to expect a PTF to be created for 450 WITHOUT A CUSTOMER HAVING TO REQUEST ONE!!!! However, whether a PTF for a release later than the reported release is actually created seems to be at the whim of the developer unless a customer has specifically asked for it. Hence some development groups are more willing than others to create PTFs. If I find a defect on say 450 then I generally attempt to verify it on later releases and request fixes for all the broken releases currently supported. {{ I could find only one APAR for CPF9C00 which indicates the problem occurs only when an unmonitored exception is encountered in a service job environment. If that is your problem also then it should be simple to work-around by using a generic exception handler -- which all code, especially CL, should have anyway. If that is not your problem then it seems like a new defect (or I did not find the relevant APAR) }} Regards, Simon Coulter. -------------------------------------------------------------------- FlyByNight Software AS/400 Technical Specialists http://www.flybynight.com.au/ Phone: +61 3 9419 0175 Mobile: +61 0411 091 400 /"\ Fax: +61 3 9419 0175 mailto: shc@flybynight.com.au \ / X ASCII Ribbon campaign against HTML E-Mail / \ --------------------------------------------------------------------
