I have a co-worker who is working on this currently. He has developed a database on the 400 (company policy), but the users prefer a windows based front end. They do not want web based. This is entirely in-house and only 2-3 users. He will be using sockets to communicate between the VB app and the 400. We started out with ODBC and web based programming and it used to drag our system to its knees. (a 510) We changed to sockets and they run in batch and really do not impact our system at all. I used the Sorcerers Guide as a template. I am reading Scott Klemmets book now on improving our sockets. Cyndi B. Idaho
