I just made my first cable a couple weeks ago, so I'm no expert (I'm a new
spurt <g>). Considering how it's messy enough getting all 8 wires in the
right places of an RJ-45 connector, I can't imagine trying to skip a couple
by using only 4. It just seems easier to use them all with a CAT5 cable. I
guess you can use flat phone cable, to save money, but it's probably not
worth it, IMO.
