>From the book...Note: SAV is not support via the QNTC file system:

13.5 Limitations of QNTC

Notice the following QNTC file system limitations:
. Connection to print resources is not available.
. File-level save and restore capability is not available for QTNC.
. Connection to the AS/400 NetServer is not available.
. The QNTC file system supports the majority of the Integrated File System
APIs. However, because of the lack of a translation means from the AS/400
system to Windows NT, there are the following exceptions:
- chown()
- fchown()
- givedescriptor()
- link()
- qp01GetPathFromFileID()
- readlink()
- symlink()
- takedescriptor()

. The following IFS commands are not supported:
- ADDLNK
- CHGOWN
- CHGAUT
- CHGPGP
- CHKIN
- CHKOUT
- DSPAUT
-RST
-SAV
-WRKAUT
-WRKOBJOWN
-WRKOBJPGP

Subject: How do I SAV directories and subdirectories in QNTC?

I'm trying to use the SAV command to save the contents of a drive share
(DALLAS_D) located on a NT Server 4.0 machine (DALLAS). The share is
defined on the NT Server, not in Ops Nav. I can navigate thru the
directories using the WRKLNK (so I know the user id and passwords match).
When I try the SAV command, I get errors (listed below). I have 2
questions (listed at the bottom).

Here's the CL code to do the save:
pgm
cd dir('/')
cd dir('qntc')
cd dir('dallas')
cd dir('dallas_d') /* shared name of entire
'd:' drive  */
sav dev('/qsys.lib/tap04.devd') savact(*sync) endopt(*leave)
monmsg msgid(cpf3837 cpf3823)

Here's the joblog listing:

F1 on any of the 'Cannot save or restore ...' errors shows this screen:

 Date sent  . . . . . . :   08/08/02      Time sent  . . . . . . :

 Message . . . . :   Cannot save or restore
/QNTC/DALLAS/DALLAS_D/RECYCLER.

 Cause . . . . . :   The system does not allow object
   /QNTC/DALLAS/DALLAS_D/RECYCLER to be saved or restored.
 Recovery . . . : If you are saving or restoring the entire system, no

   recovery is necessary.
     Otherwise, do one of the following and try the request again:
     -- If /QNTC/DALLAS/DALLAS_D/Acct is a directory, specify objects in
   the directory.
     -- If it is not a directory, specify the directory that contains the

   object.

My questions:
1. Can I not save the entire contents (including subdirectories) of a
drive share? Or do I need to define the share in Ops Nav before doing the
save?
2. What is the 'Session initialization error ...' all about?
