Jorge, You've gotten some good answers. But all require you to actually be on site, twiddling your thumbs while the full save runs... Assuming you have a tape unit that can handle multiple tapes (enough to do the full save) I would guess, unless you want to clean your office, which is what I used to use the dead time for, you'd rather be at home. We running a 620 and are on V4R5; I think with the newer releases or boxes there is a remote console option ? What I did was grab an old(er) PC we had around here not being used for anything else, installed a twin-ax emulation card in it, loaded some 5250 emulation software, set the PC up as the first device on the first port of the first card and it becomes the System Console, attached an extra modem, got PC/Anywhere and set that up on this PC and my PC at home and I can dial in from home, sign on to the System Console and run a full system save from home without having to be in here ! I wish I had known you could do this YEARS ago, of course then my office would NEVER have gotten cleaned :-) Chuck -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of jmoreno@militarycars.com Sent: Friday, August 02, 2002 8:32 AM To: Midrange-L@midrange.com Subject: Full System Backup in BATCH mode ? Hello Midrange Users, I am sure this question has been asked before But what about at V5R1 or V5R2 ? Has anyone been able to figure out if a full System Backup can be run in BATCH mode ? By Full System Backup I mean: Operating System, QSYS, IBM Libraries, Licensed Programs *ALLUSR libraries *ALL Folders and *ALL User Directories However to my knowledge The SAVSYS requires the system to be in a restricted state. Does it mean that only a device attached to the Controlling Subsystem can perform this function ? Just want to know your opinions Thanks in advance Jorge Moreno Systems Analyst Overseas Military Car Sales Woodbury, New York
