Char drops leading zeroes when converting integers to character
representations. I found that digits() will keep leading zeroes.

Actually, once I sat down again with the SQL reference, I have a working
cymd (int 7) to date routine. I am working on the date to cymd (int 7)
routine.

You can do this:

char(your_cymddate_field)

It will keep the leading zeros.
