Some folks in marketing (as well as us whiners on the lists) have been complaining for a long time that the interactive CPWs are too expensive and making folks look to alternative systems. This pricing move gives them a chance to prove to management that they were right. If they can move enough boxes at this level to cover the price reduction, then maybe - just maybe - it will become the pricing model for all systems. In terms of wanting to get people off green screens - this helps because they get the server CPWs to run WebSphere or whatever while still able to process their green/WebFaced/screen scraped screens while they switch.
