Dave, Using Domino/Notes for eMail is a bit like hunting squirrels with an elephant gun. Try Communigate Pro from Stalker Inc - www.stalker.com They support about every modern OS known to man kind...including OS/400. Cost is VERY reasonable ($500 for 50 users and 5 Lists), load on your machine is very minimal, very good support, webmail, POP3, SMTP, IMAP, MAPI and many others. They do one thing. Email Server. And they do it VERY well. And you can download a fully functional demo version. It just inserts a string into everything it sends indicating you are using a trial version. 30-60 minutes after the download, you will be sending mail. Can you afford not to try it? Regards, Bob Crothers Cornerstone Communications http://www.cstoneindy.com PS: Not associated with Stalker....just a very happy customer. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Dave Snyder Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2002 1:11 PM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Email packages I have been asked by my CTO to throw this message out here and see what type of feedback I get. We are using GroupWise as our email software. Overall we are pretty satisfied with it, but some are pushing for a switch. To what is the question. Lotus Notes is one option. Doesn't this run on the AS400? Can I get some feedback from those who use it there and especially from those who made a switch from GroupWise or Outlook (the other option)? What about performance or dasd space considerations? What about remote access like via the web? I know nothing about Lotus Notes so go easy on me. If anyone is using other packages and want to give their opinions I would appreciate those as well.
