Newsgroup access to many of the lists hosted at midrange.com, among many
others, can be found on news://news.gmane.org.

Code400-L is indeed hosted on that news server.

btw: I have asked the administrator of that site to activate a feature that
will hide email addresses for messages that are posted to the news server.
