We will probably have V5R2 implemented throughout by the end of the year
but I don't know if the boss will wait.  I'll probably settle for the
cursor loop.

Doesn't work. They are both in V5R2:

ORDER BY and FETCH FIRST n ROWS ONLY in derived tables
and common table expressions
