This is good advice.

Another possibility is communications gear between 'here' and 'there.'  If a
router is causing a timeout or some odd thing you might get errors thrown by
the zSeries.

Try a few PINGs from the iSeries and from a PC.  See if you get different
timings.  Perhaps there is a routing issue at the iSeries.
