Since we seem to be at the point of speculation, let me throw mine in too. I am not familiar with this device, but: 1) In a former life as a mainframe guy, I learned that a terminal control unit has memory on it, and it is possible to exceed the capacity of the installed memory depending on what you were trying to do with the controller. i.e. Is it possible that the hardware and/or software configuration of your 2746 is such that it freaks out when you put too many terminals on it, even though you are way under the limit? For example, running a bunch of terminals at 25x132 would take more control unit resources than a bunch of them at 25x80. Also it took more memory to support PC file transfers. etc etc etc. 2) Is it possible to update the microcode on the controller, and do you have the latest stuff loaded? 3) Have you applied any PTFs and/or hipers that may be applicable to 2746? 4) I second the idea of taking all the devices off and then adding them back on one at a time to see when everything goes awry. 5) This is really grasping at straws, but isn't there something about the machine pool having to be a certain size to support the amount of hardware you have hooked up? Could this terminal be the straw breaking the camel's back? -Marty -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Burns, Bryan Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2002 1:27 PM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: How do you find a resource name for a DEVD? Thanks for the suggestions but they have not solved it. I tried another terminal, the console terminal, changed the address from 0 to 4 and when I signed on down went two existing terminals on switches 0 and 3. I even connected it right to the Superstar Express repeater instead of going through a patch panel. So I have ruled out the device and patch panel cabling.
