Do you have any other suggestions? > Sorry to be so late to the game, but I've been busy working on a variation of your problem this week. My current primary client is running V4R5. With all due respect to those that want V5R1 or 2, upgrading a P30 or 40 system is a bit pricey and requires a great deal of testing -- especially in the pharmaceutical industry. What we are doing is installing a new 830 as a production machine to replace the current production 830 -- 4 processor P40 as opposed to the current 2 processor P30. Once we've verified that the new machine is working properly, the current development 720 will have its processor yanked and become an expansion cabinet to the current production 830 in order to support SPD devices (this SPD's for you!) already in house. All systems will be running V4R5 until we come up with the time in our busy schedule to test V5R1 on our development box. The "new" 830/720 hybrid will be partitioned so that development will be in its own LPAR with HA in the primary, thus allowing testing of the new OS without impacting our high availability system which is currently running to the unpartitioned 720. No solution to your V4R4 problem, but... HTH, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
