We're not really "forced" off of the release, but IBM will not create future fixes (unless you pay them more) for the older releases. If they're "perfectly good" they shouldn't need any more fixes anyway. We JUST went from 4.4 to 5.1 in March. I know that for at least the 6 months prior to that I don't remember any new hipers or DB PTFs even being released. You're right - the release was very stable. Now, since we're at 5.1, I'm having to readjust to scheduling IPLs due to the frequency of PTFs. We're still only IPLing about every month and a half or so, so that's not bad at all.
