Tim, Just a note, it may be worth your time to get a standalone version of Tomcat running. In my experience, it will perform and scale better than IBM's Tomcat (or WebSphere) installation. Midrange Server ran an article that describes the setup process. That article is available here: http://www.midrangeserver.com/mpo/mpo021402-story02.html If you run into any problems I am sure someone can help you out. The article points you to some startup scripts, I am working on improving those and adding scripts to precompile JSP pages and optimize jars and classes, which is really important when you want Tomcat to start and run fast.
