I like to use the software knowledge database ( http://www-912.ibm.com/supporthome.nsf/Document/10000051) search for "hp" and you will see many documents but this one " Configuration Settings and Error Messages for *LAN 3812 PJL Device Descriptions" has a section about idle timeout. I think that is where you need to look to fix the problem. I've got a HP4100 which will start, and then ends halfway through a print job. I think I've got the bulk of the set up correct, but I obviously still need to set something else....
