2771 is that card that comes with two ports on the newer 400's. One is
the integrated modem and has a telco jack. The other port hooks up a
more or less traditional looking communications cable which goes to the
modem.

The modem does the dialing itself, that or Peregrine passes thru the
dialing. There is no autocall unit.

WRKHDWRSC *CMN shows that the line generated by Peregrine is the only
one for this resource.

Rob:
I assume a 2771 is just a regular v.24 port. Are you really still using
a 208 modem for EDI. That is a 4800 Bell 208 half duplex protocol that
you rarely see supported any more. Tell me more about the app. Do you
dial (are you using an 801 autocall unit)?, do you have the thing on to
receive only, doing manual dials. Check for exisitng line descriptions
on CMN21 using option 5 and be sure they are varied off. There is no
reason the 208 should not work. Maybe some more info will help. Thanks,
cjg

  CMN21 2771 Operational V.24 Port
We want to utilize CMN21 for EDI.
Currently our EDI is running on another iSeries. But we decided to run
the command SPENDMONEY and merge it onto our 840-12 way. On the old
machine we are using a 2609 card and a UDS 208 B/D modem. On the new
machine we will be using this same modem on the 2771-V.24 port using the
0348 cable. However, as soon as plug the cable into the modem all
lights on the modem light up.

Any ideas?
