I've seen people stuck in full screen with that window missing, I guess that's why they also have a key to get out of it too. If you can right click on your task bar, do that, and then click "Cascade Windows". It could be that your word's window size is bigger than your screen resolution and the top toolbars are missing. I've seen this happen too. This is where having the "windows icon" key on your keyboard comes in handy.
