This capacity on demand is interesting. If the financial investment from IBM is already in the box then how can they charge extra for it to turn in on? Probably the same amount of pain for the customer. Sign this, that and the other thing, send it in to your business partner. Now get keys for all your software as a separate item to remember. Maybe, just maybe, if they've done it right you won't have the physical downtime involved. And instead of waiting for the shipment of the hardware you'll just have to wait for the IBM/business partner cycle to process your order. My boss has been joking for years on how he was waiting for upgrades to be done over the phone. The time has come. There is an ancient story about a CE who came to work on a customers mainframe. The customers were always amazed that the machine ran faster while he was working on it. Turns out the CE was jamming a business card into a certain area to activate the extra features while he was there. So perhaps this kind of game has been around for awhile.
