II) Think that the 400 is so old, and prone to failure, that they should replace it with a PC network Of course they will forget the fact that they've probably replaced every pc in there twice since V2R1 came out. Well, this was getting too good to pass up, so I called up to W-B to see what's happening. The short story is that due to a recalcitrant city management not wanting to pay for support contract in a timely manner, their support contract was canceled and lapsed. Then they had a DASD failure. And they're still down. Their MIS Mgr says that IBM gave them a worse case scenerio price (he believes) of about $10k. I told him to call Pace-Butler or Diamond Data, buy a used 9632 and get 2 hrs of IBM time to install the thing and start loading back up tomarrow...he should be back hardware wise (if only a single DASD, etc.,) for under $2k. BTW, they ARE using CURRENT Date (were using 1999 for a while then they discovered that V2R1.1 (not a typo!) would support current date...:) Sounds like it's time to replace a mayor and city manager to me folks...:) Don in DC _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
