You are using &ndate (and &empno) in your QMQRY.  And the content of the CL
variable &NDATE should be enclosed with 's.
You should use a syntax like this one:
DCL &NDATA *CHAR 10
CHGVAR VAR(&NDATA) VALUE('''' *CAT &NDATE *CAT '''')
STRQMQRY QMQRY(BMEADE/CNVDATE) SETVAR(('ndate'  &NDATA) ('empno' &EMPNO))

It would be easier to always use uppercase variables, as &NDATE or &EMPNO,
in your QMQRYs.
