I usually stay out of these threads, but just for your information the middleware to enable a mainframe system to run on a laptop or other PC server platform is called Flex/es. It was not developed by IBM. The name of the developing company is Fundamental Software, I think that name is correct. Scotty ____________________________ Scotty Muir SR. Here's the post (attached below). BTW, the PC/400 thing was shot down by IBM cause the feasiblity study said there wasn't enough money in it to be made. (you know one of those "What's the business case , ROI) So if you want to sell it to IBM, I would suggest you push it as a PR Expense NOT a Renenue Generator. Hearts and Souls and that type of thing. Also I would STRONGLY put the below post in their face, and say "Ya did it for the MAINFRAME people, Whataboutus??? " John ---------------------------- Perhaps you are not dreaming. A Laptop running OS/390 (or VM, or VSE, your preference) is available to developers for $14K or less. A similar product for the AS/400 could be even less I suspect. By the way, that is *with* the O/S and a bunch of compilers, CICS, and all sorts of other goodies. -Paul "Paul Raulerson" <praulerson@hot.rr.com> _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
