We used to use BayNetworks routers and DLSw. This setup actually worked very well and was very stable once we finally had everything configured properly. However, at the end of last year we swapped out the routers for Cisco routers. Now, we regularly have problems. We do have regular performance problems and we also have numerous outages where we have to reset the AS/400 configuration objects and turnoff, turnon the control units (5494). We are able to confirm both of these situations with APING. Pings to the router will work with decent response but APINGS will either be slow or no response in accordance to the problem. Our comm. guy (who does a great job) repeatedly says things are ok. Evidently things aren't and I'm looking to find if anyone has had similar experiences or any recommendations. I've been through the Cisco site without much luck and right now don't have any access to anything but PING and APING to diagnose the problem..... Michael Crump Saint-Gobain Containers 1509 S.
