That is controlled by the ovrprtf option align(*yes/*no) in a
CLP(as I'm sure you know) and if no override, it is handled by
the spool writer. This sounds like a case of leaving a "native"
printer and going to the "dreaded" CA virtual printer, which has
an entirely different setup.

Another "sneaky" thing that creeps into printer problems is the
ADDRPYLE which folks setup and then everybody forgets about
them until the printer starts doing "wacky" stuff.

What or how is the current printer seen by the system ???

Was a new devd created for the printer and how is it different ??

Is it a CA/400 printer now ???

What emulation are you running ???
