When the front panel is selected for a Nornal IPL the power switch is disabled for the Power Off function. Always has been this way back to the B10 in 1988. You can select B M and then use the power switch (twice - first time asks for confirmation with 0 ? ) to power off. THEN select (via 02) B N, THEN hit the power switch to power on for an unattended IPL. It's always worked that way. ...Neil We are on V5R1M0 on a 9406-720. This question follows the problem we had with SST passwords. To automatically IPL the machine we had to physically pull the power cord and depend on the fact that the system value was set to do an unattended IPL on power loss/resumption. I had tried to get this box to do an unattended IPL from the control panel and couldn't seem to. I would set it to do a B Normal IPL and press the button and nothing would happen. Only when I switched it to Manual would it power cycle into an attended IPL. I know there HAS to be a way to do an unattended normal IPL from the control panel, unless IBM has totally lost it.
