Sorry, I misread it.  I thought they said the line was failed, not that the
varyon failed.

Now there's the 80/20 rule.  There is an 80% probability that you are right
- they already have a resource varied on.  There is a 20% probability that
there is a hardware problem.
DSPLIND LANLINE
write down the resource name
WRKHDWRSC *CMN
find the resource name
5=Work with configuration descriptions
there should only be one.
8=Work with configuration status

Am I missing something ? I didn't see where they said the line showed vary
on pending (?)
I agree with what you said but if they do not see the line vary on pending,
this is still a possibility, no ? :-)


<I don't think that is it.  If another line description has that resource
then the status of your line description will be varied off.  You can't
have two varied on at the same time on the same resource - failed or not.
