Hi Chuck,

is this an IP printer?

Because on our system we also had a printer that didn't start automatically
after our weekend IPL.

The reason turned out to be that the printer writers were started _before_
TCP/IP, which explains the error.

Subject: Starting Printer Writer(s) Question

Hi Folks,

Had something "strange" happen.

I added a new printer to the system Friday. It is an HP LaserJet 4+
attached
to a Decision Data terminal. It works fine and of course I had to start the
printer writer up the first time.

Well we IPL on Sunday morning and the user of this printer just contacted
me
and said he could not get anything to print.

I checked and there was no printer writer started...

I started the printer writer and everything is fine now.

My question is why this did not start automatically like all of the other
printer we have ?

In our Startup Program we have:

QSYS/RTVSYSVAL SYSVAL(QSTRPRTWTR) RTNVAR(&STRWTRS)
IF COND(&STRWTRS = '0') THEN(GOTO CMDLBL(NOWTRS))

And System Value QSTRPRTWTR (Start print writers at IPL) is 1=Start

I have also checked the device description and Online at IPL is *YES

What else can I check ?

TIA !

Chuck
