Pat, You have a user accessing the AS400 using some sort of virtual terminal (could be telnet, display station passthru, Client access, etc). QPADEV* devices are assigned randomly to service these virtual devices, so you never know what device a PC will get when it next connects. S36 environment requires all OS400 workstation devices to be assigned a two character device ID. CFGS36 should get you to that config option. If the culprit is Client Access Express on a PC, you may be able to use named devices to give you a persistent device name to register in S35 config utility. hth Eric DeLong Sally Beauty Company MIS-Sr. Programmer/Analyst 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 -----Original Message----- From: midrange [mailto:midrange.mail@sfmco.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 06, 2002 12:46 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Virtual Devices - Is there a MAX #?
