Note that although the menus GO UPGRADE and GO UPGRADE2 are provided at
V5R1, you cannot go from CISC to V5R1 of RISC.  You will screw up all of
QUSRSYS.  The shipment of these menus was classified as a bug, that IBM
chose not to fix after it was reported to save money.  (You can guess who
reported it.)

If you have the OS CD's and want to go the CISC to RISC route it will bring
everthing over except spoolfiles. Cisc to Risc manual is avail as a PDF and
may
actually be the easiest.

Your other option would be to move the application libs over. Being careful
as to what they have put into places like QGPL, QUSRSYS etc.

If they have certain printers (IPDS and APF *YES) they will need PSF which
could
run $4K or more.

No SPD so the ASCII is out.

The 170 may have a twinax controller in it?
