Reeve, Don't know what you've been reading, but the article says: "Since December 2000, the iSeries Model 820s have experienced just two incidents of unplanned downtime-one caused by human error and the other by a faulty UPS backup device. During both outages, the users were back online within minutes by failing over to the hot backup, according to Larkin. In prior downtime scenarios, e-mail outages often lasted for hours, he said. In fact, in the 13 months since the Model 820s have been on-site, the company has experienced less than an hour of unplanned downtime." Notice the word "DOWNTIME". It doesn't say "uptime". Unless you were just trying to be funny, in which case I guess humor is in the mind of the presenter. But please don't send out emails that purport to quote something from an article or other resource unless you clearly state that what you're sending is a parenthetical comment and not an actual quote from the source/artice. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reeve Fritchman" <reeve@ltl400.com> To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2002 2:23 PM Subject: Migrating from iSeries to NT > "In fact, in the 13 months since the company has been live on the NT server > farm, they've experienced less than one hour of unplanned up time." > > _______________________________________________ > This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list > To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, > visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l > or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com > Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives > at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. > >
