   I believe that Charly is almost exactly right. The Gotcha is the currency
access fee. If the machine doesn't have Software Subscription I think you'll
have to pay it. The only way that Charly is correct on this (and it seems
fair mind you but this IBM) is if you as a new customer get to put SS on the
box without the currency fee.
   I have helped a couple people get model 400s running that have done this,
exception being that they Had SS.
