Pat:
I think that SLIP was available at V3R2, but not PPP. I know that SLIP
was available on V3r6 on the RISC side and believe that the CISC side
kept up. Do a WRKTCPPTP command. If it is there you can configure
SLIP. You also must be sure on the PC side that SLIP is an option in
the Windows RAS dialer. I think under 98 it was an extra config option
(under add/remove programs, then Communications). Let me know if you
need more info.

Pat,

Unless I'm misinterpreting your question, you would establish a dial-up
connection to your AS/400 using Microsoft dial-up networking. Client
Access (or whatever emulation product is used) would not be involved in
the TCP/IP configuration. Then you would layer Client Access on top of
that connection. You would need to have either a SLIP or PPP line
description defined on the AS/400 for your communications line.

I think that you're out of luck at V3R2 for that configuration, but I
would verify. Once the connection is established, any TN5250 client
will do (see recent discussions on Mochasoft), so it doesn't have to be
Client Access.
